S. RESHAM SINGH JI
Founder of ‘Heico’ Group
S. Resham Singh Ji was born in the year 1926 in village Chitti about 10 KM from Jalandhar. He had his schooling in the same area and studied up to Class X. At the age of Eighteen he joined the British Army and fought World War II in the Burma Front and was attached to Core Recovery Unit. After the World War II, he migrated back to Punjab and joined the Polytechnic of Hoshiarpur in the technical side.
In early 50’s he got the opportunity to go to U.K. and during his stay in U.K. for Seven years he worked with M/s. Marconi Instruments, M/s. Hilger and Watts and other companies owned by Late Mr. L.H. Elistan. On personal request by Mr. L.H. Eliston and call given by Prime Minister Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for Industrialisation S. Resham Singh Ji came back to India in the year 1957 and joined as a Works Manager in one of the Companies owned by Mr. L.H. Eliston and retired in 1972 as Technical Director. ‘HEICO’ was established in the year 1972 under the guidance of S. Resham Singh Ji and had a small and humble start with five members only and gradually progressed with more number of people and additional facility, a premises was established in the year 1982 to increase the production for serving the Country.
He was actively involved in the production till 1997. During this period ‘HEICO’ was awarded the Udyog Ratna by the then Hon’ble President of India. During this period he was joined in the business and was assisted by two sons namely Shri. Jattinder Singh, graduate from S.V. Engineering College, Surat and Shri. Gurminder Singh, Commerce Graduate. With joining of more family members ‘HEICO’ progressed and entered in the International Market for the state-of-the-art equipments like Dynamic Triaxial Equipment, Cyclic Triaxial Equipment, Loading Machines, Servo Controlled Machines and many more machines. S. Resham Singh Ji was socically involved himself in the Rotary International, Naraina Industries Association, All India Ramgarhia Vishwakarma Federation and gave scholarships to many deserving students in Schools and Colleges.
Shri. Jattinder Singh, who is at the helm of affairs of ‘HEICO’ and other members of the family have instituted a Scholarship in the memory of S. Resham Singh Ji through the Trust known as S. Resham Singh Matharu Memorial Trust.
